Resumen:
The aim of this proposal is to present the project Learning Outside the Classroom. The project is based on the use of cultural heritage elements as a facilitating resources context to promote oral communication in English as an additional language in Primary and Secondary education. It means that most of the activities are carried out in outdoor spaces such as parks, museums, art galleries or historical buildings. Visits are organised according to the objectives and contents planned in the curriculum and in the cultural programmes of the institutions or the places to be visited. The objectives of the project are to improve students´ oral communication in the English language; to know the school surroundings and its cultural heritage; to develop a taste for art and heritage and to improve students and teachers´ motivation. The project is the result of a research led by the Education Sciences Department, at University of Oviedo and has been validated by different experts on the matter.
