After offering a brief summary of Paolo Bacigalupi's cli-fi novel The Windup Girl, an example of so-called biopunk cli-fi, the chapter explores the themes of the work; the approach to climate change; formal qualities; reception; contribution to public debates, as well as it offers teaching ideas.The aim is to give readers an insight into the text, allowing them to see it in a new way. The chapter is included in a volume intended to appeal to students, scholars, teachers and potentially non-academics.
