Abstract:

This is the geological modelling of a gravitational slide in the northern side of the tunnel Teso, located in the North-Northwest High Speed Railway Corridor. With cartography and inclinometer readings, provided by the project developer, and by the generating of models performed with a geographic information system computer support, we have got one possible interpretation of what the behavior of the slide was, during the period of time from October 2007 until January 2010, at the study area. By the generation of models, we have defined the fracture surface and the estimated volume of material involved in the slide. Also, the magnitudes of the movements have been estimated for each point on the slide surface, as well as the main directions of displacements. Displacements have reached 90 mm in the northern part of the study area. They are north-northeast direction, so they are oblique to the railway infrastructure. In the East, the displacements are close to 50 mm and their direction goes towards the railway, so these movements could be harmful to the infrastructure. The average thickness of the sliding mass is about 25 m, and its volume is around 5.940.000 m3
