Beyond the Army and the Church: Civil Wind Bands in Spain

Abstract

First study about the civil wind bands origins in Spain, from 19th century onwards. The results show how the military world is not the unique beginning of these ensembles. They were linked to religious sphere as well as educative and institutional context throughout years. Due to is wrote in English, the research makes possible the knowledge about Spanish wind bands, which is a valuable musical net unknown in English-speaking and German research sphere.
