Abstract

En este trabajo se ahonda en el conocimiento de la obra De natura animalium de Eliano y de su autor. El estudio de las citas y su utilización muestra bien que el pensamiento aristotélico y estoico, que está en el fondo de su obra, toma en Eliano un giro marcadamente ético, con un fuerte matiz, se podría decir, religioso. La razón del ser humano es norma de la verdad y del bien, pero debe ser conducida hacia ese fin, para no caer en el ejercicio de la libertad en la autodestrucción. La comparación con el pensamiento de los primeros autores cristianos deja ver su influencia mutua

The paper delves into the De natura animalium o Aelian under the influence received mainly, from the Aristotle in his biological works as well as from rhe Stoics. In this ideological setting the author discusses the quotations of Aristotle and other authors and its utilization in the Aelian´s work. He demonstrates that the ethical aspect in the prenestine acquires a huge relief, with a strong religious tinge. The human reason is standard of truth and good at the same time, but must be conducted towards thid end, to avoid falling into the exercise of freedom in self-destruction. The investigation ends with a comparison with the early Christian authors that reveals their mutual influence
