dc.description.abstract | When considering the operation of transmission networks in the medium and long term, it is necessary to determine the amount of additional power that each node of the network can allocate. This aspect is intrinsically related to the transport capacity of the transmission lines in the network, which consequently requires more precise estimates of this transport capacity for medium and long term operational and planning studies. This work proposes the use of more accurate estimates, without reaching real-time estimates, of the transmission capacity. The objective is to determine the amount of additional power that a transmission network node can accommodate without requiring additional investment in transmission infrastructure. This capacity is determined using a representative sample of system operating conditions, followed by a steady-state contingency analysis to quantify the expected amount of network congestion caused by the addition of a new generation facility. The main result of the design and implementation of the methodology is the value of additional power that each node in the grid can accommodate, comparing the impact of using three different transmission capacity estimates, Static Line Rating (SLR), Seasonal Adjustment Rating (SAR), and Ambient Adjustment Rating (AAR). | |
