dc.description.abstract | The University of Oviedo, as a renowned educational and research institution, is in a constant process of expansion and modernization. In this context, energy efficiency and sustainability are crucial aspects to ensure responsible resource management and the achievement of environmental goals. Electricity consumption on the university campus represents a significant component of its operational costs and has a direct impact on its carbon footprint.
This Bachelor's Thesis project is proposed as a response to the need to optimize electricity consumption at the University of Oviedo, not only with the goal of reducing costs but also to promote a sustainable and environmentally respectful culture. Research in this field is relevant in a global context of climate change and the increasing importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The project's objectives are as follows:
Conduct a detailed analysis of electricity consumption patterns at the University of Oviedo, identifying key consumers and trends over time.
Evaluate the energy efficiency of university buildings and facilities, identifying areas for improvement and proposing specific solutions to reduce consumption.
Investigate and recommend the implementation of renewable energy sources and sustainable technologies that can reduce the University of Oviedo's dependence on the conventional electrical grid.
Develop an action plan that includes specific strategies for optimizing electrical expenses, establishing quantitative consumption reduction goals, and evaluating the economic and environmental benefits of the proposed measures.
A multidisciplinary approach will be employed, combining the collection of historical consumption data, energy efficiency analysis, feasibility studies of renewable energy sources, and cost analysis. In addition, best practices in energy management at the international level and current regulations and standards will be considered. | spa |
