Biografía

I obtained a M. Eng. in 1995 and a Ph.D. in 2000, both from the University of Oviedo. In 2001, I completed a research stay at Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) where I investigated industrial applications of the Self-Organizing Map. Since January 2004, I have been associate professor in the Area of Systems and Automation Engineering. I lead the GSDPI Lab (http://isa.uniovi.es/GSDPI) whose research focuses on data analysis and visualization techniques to discover high-value knowledge to improve the efficiency of processes, develop advanced diagnostic and monitoring systems or finding new treatments and diagnostic tests in the field of biomedicine.
