Yuri Álvarez received the M.S. (2006) and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in telecommunication from the University of Oviedo, both with Honors. He did research stays at Syracuse University in 2008; at Northeastern University, Boston, from 2011 to 2014; and at ELEDIA, Trento in 2015. He has been with the TSC-UNIOVI research group of the University of Oviedo since 2006, now holding an Associate Professor position. He has co-authored over 100 publications in JCR-indexed journals in the areas of antennas and propagation, EM imaging, nondestructive testing, and location systems. He received the 2011 Regional and National Awards for the Best Thesis on Telecommunications, the Best Propagation Paper Award at the 2014 EuCAP conference, and the Idea of the Year at the 2019 GALILEO Masters Awards, GSA.
