Data Documentation for: Alonso-Castaño, M. (2021). El conocimiento matemático y pedagógico de los futuros maestros cuando crean y resuelven problemas de probabilidad [Tesis de doctorado, Universidad de Oviedo]. Repositorio de la Universidad de Oviedo. General Information This document contains a qualitative database of probability problems designed and solved by prospective teachers (PTs) in their third year of the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education at the University of Oviedo. They have previous training in statistics, probability, problem-solving, and didactics. The document is structured in three sections, each with its own statement, which varies according to the nature of the study. This study aimed to analyse PTs' mathematical knowledge for teaching by creating and solving probability problems at a specific educational level. The methodology used was action research, a cyclical approach that involves planning the research, collecting data, analysing them and, based on the conclusions obtained, reformulating the instrument to start a new cycle with the modified instrument. Each section corresponds to one of the three iterations of action research carried out during the study, so the instrument used in each phase for data collection is presented at the beginning of each section. The data have been collected anonymously in Spanish and are presented in the original format provided by each PT (textual, tabular, image, or a combination of several formats). As they are presented as submitted, they may contain spelling mistakes, format or mathematical errors, or be incomplete. Enunciados y resoluciones de problemas de probabilidad diseñados por estudiantes para maestro [Conjunto de datos]. Repositorio de la Universidad de Oviedo. (Add link from RUO). Methodology for data collection: Data were collected online through the virtual campus of the University of Oviedo. Data collector(s): Marlén Alonso Castaño Date of data collection: Academic years 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020. Person to contact with questions: Marlén Alonso Castaño: alonsomarlen@uniovi.es Data entry: 13/02/2025 Software (including version #) used to prepare data set: Microsoft Word (Version 2501) Data processing that was performed: The data were provided voluntarily by the study participants and treated anonymously. They have been securely stored in a OneDrive folder to which only Dr Marlén Alonso Castaño and her two supervisors, Dr Luis J. Rodríguez Muñiz and Dr Pedro Alonso Velázquez, have access (these data have been originally collected for the elaboration of the doctoral dissertation). Variables Not applicable. The dataset is qualitative, so depending on the study's aim, the data can be analysed qualitatively through textual content analysis. File Overview Not applicable.
