DATA DOCUMENTATION RELATED TO THE PAPER: Effect of finite length on the performance of a planar jet: pressure profiles and downstream shear stress distribution GENERAL INFORMATION These files contain all the measurements made during the test campaigns carried out in 2020 and 2022 to analyse the performance of an air knife. These tests were the core of Celia Miguel-González PhD. Times series of raw data can be supplied (is possible) under petition to the lead researcher: Bruno Pereiras. Note that these data sets are protected under Creative Commons License: CC BY-NC-SA. NAME OF DATASET: Experimental data of an air knife, pressure fields and wall shear stresses NAME OF DATA FILES IN DATA SET: 1- Midspan pressure profiles. 2- Edge pressures. 3- Midspan wall shear stress. 4- Spanwise wall shear stress. DATASET LANGUAGE: English DATE THE DATA SET WAS LAST MODIFIED: 08 July 2024 HOW TO CITE DATA: Use the same reference shown in the corresponding paper. METHODOLOGY FOR DATA COLLECTION: See the corresponding paper DATA COLLECTOR(S): Celia Miguel and Aitor Vega DATE OF DATA COLLECTION: 2021-2023 PERSON TO CONTACT WITH QUESTIONS: Bruno Pereiras DATA ENTRY: 08 July 2024 SOFTWARE USED TO PREPARE DATA SET: Excel#2406. DATA PROCESSING THAT WAS PERFORMED: Each measurement was made along 30 seconds, being processed to obtain the time-average values of the last 10 seconds, which is the info available in these data sets. Data related to shear stresses contain only the total pressure at the Preston tube, which later should be processed following Patel’s methodology. For more info about the instrumentation and the experimental procedure, see the paper associated. VARIABLES x-coordinate (X): x-axis is on the impingement plane and perpendicular to the air knife span. Zero at the impingement line. [mm] z-coordinate (Z): z-axis is on the impingement plane and parallel to the air knife span. Zero at the midspan. [mm] z’-coordinate (Z’): z’-axis is on the impingement plane and parallel to the air knife span. Zero at the end of the air knife projection on the impingement plane. Direction outwards. [mm] Pressure (P): static pressure at the taps. [Pa] Total pressure (Pt): Total pressure registered by the Preston tubes for shear stress assessment. [Pa] Re: Reynolds number. [-] H: Blowing distance. [mm] D: air knife nozzle width. [mm] Uo: velocity at the nozzle outlet measured using a Pitot tube. [m/s] Pc: Static pressure within the air knife. [Pa] T_room: Ambient temperature [K] T_jet: Temperature at the nozzle outlet. [K] FILE OVERVIEW The results have been structured in four files corresponding to the names given: Nota that in all the files there is an initial sheet where the main data can be found. 1- Midspan pressure profiles: Static pressure at the midspan along x-coordinate. To plot the impingement pressure profile at the mispan. 2- Edge pressures: 3- Midspan wall shear stress. In the file it can be found both the static pressure at the surface and the total pressure at the Preston tube in the midspan along x-coordinate. 4- Spanwise wall shear stress. Measurement of total pressure at the Preston tube along z-coordinate for four x-coordinate positions. Note that there is not info about static pressure at these locations because its atm pressure.
